Spanish and Math teacher – Founder of Happy World Foundation Inc.
Mr. Akash Patel is of Indian origin, is the founder of Happy World Foundation Inc. an international non-profit organization that promotes global citizenship education in schools and communities around the world.
In 2018, he was the Dallas ISD Spanish and math teacher selected as one of 50 finalists out of more than 30,000 teachers for the Global Teacher Prize, a $1 million award given annually to a teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession.
In 2020, he was elected to the UNA-USA National Council for the 2020-2022 term.
He was also appointed chair of the Global Engagement Summit, the largest gathering of U.S. grassroots change agents and global activists in the United Nations General Assembly Hall, and chair of the UNA-USA educator affinity group, which helps educators in the United States and the United States work together to build the capacity of educators in the United Nations. He is also chair of the UNA-USA educator affinity group that assists educators across the country. States champion the Sustainable Development Goals in their classrooms.
In 2021, he was named to the International Literacy Association’s list of 30 Literacy Leaders Under 30. He has received several awards and honors, nationally and internationally for his work with global anti-bias education. He speaks six languages and has traveled to more than 50 countries.
